REFLECTION ABOUT THE SKELETON WOMAN

The Skeleton Woman: A Great Story

The Skeleton Woman is a story of a fisherman who accidentally brought the skeleton of a woman from beneath the sea to his skinny house. After I read the story first, it made me confused and wonder what was really the message behind it. I have read it three times before an idea came into my mind.
For me, the message was the essence of being alive. It is all about the importance of life and love. When the skeleton woman saw the fisherman crying while sleeping, it is when the skeleton woman felt how painful the life of a fisherman was. He knew that the fisherman suffered a lot. The fisherman cried maybe because he dreamed something that happened to him before he felt alone and had nothing to eat. As she drink the tears of the fisherman, the thirst she was feeling for a long time slowly vanished and the fisherman did not notice what the skeleton woman did. I think this scene symbolizes how the skeleton woman understands the struggle of the fisherman. The next thing that happened was quietly weird. The skeleton woman borrowed the heart of the fisherman and feel its heartbeat, after which, her hair slowly grew and afterward she already has a body, the body of a woman. Then he put back the heart of the fisherman to its chest and lay down beside the fisherman and hugged him just the way how people make love. The next morning, instead of giving the skeleton woman a good burial, they became lovers and do not have to suffer from hunger. For me, this scene implies that even though the fisherman underwent a lot of struggles in life, here comes a person who will be at his side for him not to feel alone. It is amazing how the skeleton woman showed love to the fisherman.
After I have understand the message of the story, it made me realize one thing. In a world full of pain and suffering, there will be someone who will come not by chance or accident to heal you but by God's better plan for us. Love comes mysteriously.

Position Paper: TOTAL BANNING OF CONTRACTUALIZATION IN THE PHILIPPINES

TOTAL BANNING OF CONTRACTUALIZATION IN THE PHILIPPINES "Without contractualization, companies would be forced to make all employees regular which is not practical and would kill the business." (Taus, 2016). As one of the promises President Duterte uttered during his presidential campaign, banning contractualization is one of the most controversial labor practices in the Philippines and the most talked about issue among employees across the country. With all the pleads and rants of the workers about this issue, total banning and prohibition of contractualization must not be implemented. Despite the benefits they can get, removing contractualization would entail a lot of cost in having all the employees regularized. This will also stifle employment growth and it will create various repercussions not just for the business but also for the Philippine economy as a whole. While contractualization is a disadvantage to the employees, it is an advantage to the employers and...
