                THE FAULT IN OUR STARS

"You don't get to choose if you get hurt in this world, old man, but you do have some say in who hurts you."   We find love in an unexpected endeavor. The Fault in Our Stars is written by John Green and is all about the roller coaster love story of Augustus and Hazel Grace. Emotions can be expressed in many ways either in writing, actions or by speaking up verbally.

A 16-year-old girl named Hazel was diagnosed with lung cancer and attends a support group. She was very reluctant to attend the support group until she realises that it was a good idea. She met a guy named Augustus who is very kind. He was diagnosed to bone cancer before but became stable. Augustus helped Hazel to find the author whom she idolized. Along their adventure, they admit their love for each other, but a horrible twist happened. Augustus' cancer came back and later on, he died.

After I read the book, I really cried. I expected the finale to be a tragedy but I did not expect that Augustus would be the one to die. For me, the flow of the story was really good. The author plotted the story well and made the readers feel what the characters portrayed. Based on my experience, I can make great literary pieces because of my reasons of writing so, it made me wonder why John Green wrote The Fault In Our Stars. Based on my research, John Green wanted to express his sorrow after a close friend of his passed away named Esther. Esther influenced John Green a lot especially in introducing a lot of ideas in the book because before, Green wanted to write a book about sick children but he can't formulate his ideas. He was just too angry but he wanted the story to be a little bit funny and not sentimental. After he met Esther, he felt that even short life can be a rich life.

Writing can be one of the best ways to express your thoughts or emotions either by writing poems or stories. Composing a song is also a way in doing such. If you experienced a joyous or a tough life, a pen will be the best tool and writing will be the best process for expressing yourself. John Green did, he expressed his depression through writing and put his ideas into life. While in the story, emotions were expressed verbally by saying to each other what they really feel and making each other feel that they are special.

For those teenagers and early adults, which are fans of reading an amazing tragic story, The Fault In Our Stars is one of the best. It teaches you how to accept things and the fate that you have, learn to strive and never give up despite all the struggles in life, and believe in love which is believed to come in an unexpected time in the most unexpected place and moment in your life.

Position Paper: TOTAL BANNING OF CONTRACTUALIZATION IN THE PHILIPPINES

TOTAL BANNING OF CONTRACTUALIZATION IN THE PHILIPPINES "Without contractualization, companies would be forced to make all employees regular which is not practical and would kill the business." (Taus, 2016). As one of the promises President Duterte uttered during his presidential campaign, banning contractualization is one of the most controversial labor practices in the Philippines and the most talked about issue among employees across the country. With all the pleads and rants of the workers about this issue, total banning and prohibition of contractualization must not be implemented. Despite the benefits they can get, removing contractualization would entail a lot of cost in having all the employees regularized. This will also stifle employment growth and it will create various repercussions not just for the business but also for the Philippine economy as a whole. While contractualization is a disadvantage to the employees, it is an advantage to the employers and...
